Meet Our New Foes: L.A. Galaxy

This is the 15th part of a series in which we introduce Orlando City fans to the teams our Lions will be facing in 2015 when the team starts play in Major League Soccer. Today we take a look at the L.A. Galaxy.

Telling us about the Galaxy is Josie Becker, manager at SB Nation’s L.A. blog, LAG Confidential.

What are the three most important things Orlando City fans need to know about the Galaxy?

Josie Becker: The LA Galaxy are the best MLS club that ever MLS’d. There’s enough silverware in the closet to serve an elegant dinner party in the ritziest of places. Landon Donovan, David Beckham, Cobi Jones, Jorge Campos, these are the guys which have put on the shirt. It’s fun stuff.

What are the can’t-miss things to do when Orlando City fans visit an L.A. game?

JB: Carson isn’t the hotbed of activity, but there’s a KFC across the street! Have you ever had KFC? It’s got over five herbs and spices in the batter, totally worth checking out.

Who are the key players on the L.A. Galaxy that we should know about?

JB: Robbie Keane is one of the best goal scorers MLS has ever seen, and Gyasi Zardes is going through the transformation from youth prospect to elite. The dynamic duo.

Which Galaxy players do you think might get exposed in the upcoming MLS Expansion Draft?

JB: It’ll be interesting since L.A. has been able to store players on L.A. Galaxy II and I’m not entirely sure how that’s going to shake out when the Expansion Draft comes. If L.A. isn’t able to protect some of their prospects there, like Jack McBean, who has MLS experience, I could see Orlando taking a flyer on him.

Big thanks to Josie for taking time out of her busy schedule to hobnob with us lowly expansioneers. It looks like with the new alignment and schedule we’ll only face L.A. once per year, so trips to play the Galaxy on the road will probably be infrequent. Still, it’s nice to know they’ve got the Colonel. #OriginalRecipeLyfe
