Orlando City and NYCFC will be among the teams participating in the Chivas USA Dispersal Draft, according to an MLS release that came out during the Eastern Time Zone’s Friday evening commute. The two new clubs, along with the 2014 MLS non-playoff teams, will have two envelopes in a weighted lottery drawing Nov. 14 to determine the Dispersal Draft order. Playoff teams will get one envelope apiece in the drawing.
The Dispersal Draft itself will take place Wednesday, Nov. 19 at 4 p.m. MLS will conduct the draft via conference call with all 20 clubs.
Cubo Torres will not be part of the Dispersal Draft and his fate will be decided by MLS in mid-December, according to a story today on MLSSoccer.com. The prize of the draft will be goalkeeper Dan Kennedy. Beyond that, you can check out Andrew’s breakdown of which players might fit best into Orlando City’s plans.
Video of the lottery drawing will be made available on MLSsoccer.com following the event.
