OCSC: Tracking the Young Lady Lions

The Orlando City women’s youth teams in the Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) were all in action in important conference action the weekend of Nov. 22-23. The teams traveled to Georgia to square off against league rivals. Below we summarize Orlando City’s ECNL teams fared.

U-18

Orlando City’s ECNL U-18 squad played the Atlanta Fire U-18 team on Nov. 22 and had a good afternoon, claiming a 3-1 victory. Kasey Rakauskas led all scorers, tallying two goals. Evelyn Neidert added a goal and an assist for the Lions. Christen Barney chipped in two assists. The Lions played again the next day against GSA ECNL U-18s. Orlando City struggled in this game and fell 5-0.

The Weekend in Soccer…(11/10/14)

It was a quiet weekend for Orlando City news. The club held its Play Bingo Ladies Luncheon, presented by Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies, on Saturday at the Rosen Plaza Hotel—providing a day of bingo, champagne, mimosas and prizes from Tiffany’s for those in attendance.

The Orlando City Foundation is doing good work in the Orlando area, making the world a better place for the children of Central Florida.

In other news, Tommy Redding and Tyler Turner left to join the U.S. U-20 team on its trip to Spain, in preparation for U-20 FIFA World Cup qualifying in January 2015. The U-20 team will compete in three matches in Marbella while overseas. The U.S. will take on Russia (U-21), the Republic of Ireland and Canada.

The Weekend in Soccer…

As is always the case, it was an interesting weekend in the world of soccer. Things are a little quiet following last huge week’s stadium groundbreaking gala, but we’re still pretty much abuzz from it.

In case you missed our coverage:

I can’t say enough good things about all of the thought and effort (and money!) that went into the groundbreaking party. It had a little of everything—dignitaries, Orlando City players, a massive march to the stadium site, fireworks, flying confetti, music, a specially constructed box with 24 tons of purple sand, a unique fan giveaway, and one of the best street parties you’ll ever see. And the weather was perfect.

So what’s next for Orlando City?
